Ganpatipule
About Ganpatipule
Ganpatipule is a small coastal village in Ratnagiri district, Maharashtra, famous for its pristine beach and the ancient Swayambhu Ganesh Temple. The temple, over 400 years old, houses a naturally formed (swayambhu) idol of Lord Ganesh, making it one of the eight ashtavinayak temples of the Konkan coast.
The beach stretches for nearly 3 km, with clean white sand and gentle waves perfect for wading. The water is remarkably clear, revealing the sandy bottom even at depth. Coconut groves and casuarina trees line the shore, providing shade and a quintessential Konkan atmosphere.
The nearby Malgund village was the birthplace of celebrated Marathi poet Keshavsut. Jaigad Fort, located 16 km away, offers dramatic views of the confluence of the Shastri river and the Arabian Sea. MTDC operates a resort complex here, making it accessible for families and groups.
